Well yesterday and last night was interesting - and kinda scary. I came home from a baby shower yesterday afternoon to find our choc lab, Kasey, was unable to stand up and walk. Her back left leg would not function at all for her. I was home by myself because Jerred was at a softball tournament and there was absolutely NOTHING i could do for her. It was so pitiful hearing her whine and cry because she was obviously scared.
Well, I ended up just putting some water beside her and went up to the tournament. When we had gotten home later in the evening, Kasey had managed to get from my bedroom (where I had found her) to the dining room. She was still having trouble, but could get to a sitting position. I tried calling her vet and the recording at his office gave us a number to an emergency clinic in humble.
So at 10:00pm, we (well, Jerred) loaded her up into my car, took Keyli over to my moms, and drove to humble. They had to bring a rolling cart out to the car because we couldn't carry her in (100 lb dog we are talking about!) and they started examining her. Over all, it turns out she has a disc in her back that somehow got injured and it was putting pressure on a nerve that goes down into her leg. The vet gave her a shot of muscle relaxer, and sent us home with 3 prescriptions. By the time we left the vet, she was up and walking - rather stiffly, but at least walking.
She slept through the night without so much of a peep, and so far this morning has been doing pretty good. I am so thankful it was nothing more than what it is. All the "what-ifs" were going through my head. Keyli was so cute with her before we left. She kept petting her head telling her, "it ok kasey, get up...get up kasey"...
Anyway - things we do for a dog - but I couldn't imagine NOT doing that! She is part of our family!

I'm on board...for now!
Well, I'm gonna try it! Blogging, that is...we'll see how often I keep up with it! haha
I have several friends that I keep track of by reading their blogs. Even if it's been MONTHS or YEARS since I have actually talked to them, I know everything going on in their lives thanks to a wonderful creation known as internet blogging!
So here goes: a little background information:
Jerred and I have been married 4 years (dec. 10th!). We have a beautiful 2 year old daughter named Keyli and we have 1 on the way! Our due date is august 19th (yes, the HOTTEST time of the year!) and we are thinking boy this time! Keyli will tell you that there is a "baby in mommy's tummy!" "it's MY baby" and "my baby brudder". She keeps wanting to lift my shirt to "see" the baby! it's too cute! I just hope she stays this excited once the baby actually gets here! :)
Anyway - I currently work for Hardin ISD as a speech therapist. This is my 5th school year there and even though it's patience testing and nerve racking at times, I really do like my job. I mean, come on - I get 3 months off in the summer, 2 weeks at christmas, and 1 week in the spring! ALL PAID! I can't argue with that! haha! I enjoy scrapbooking (on the rare opportunity that I have a quiet moment that I can actually do it!), playing with Keyli, and watching my husband play softball. I live a busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Jerred is working for Exxon Mobil. He started there last April and absolutely LOVES it there! He works in the Machine Shop and works on various stuff if it breaks down...yes, that is the extint of knowing EXACTLY what my husband does! I'm just impressed I know that much! He is also a member of a men's tournament team for slow-pitch softball. They play about 2 tournaments a month here and there around South East Texas. Last year they were National Champions for ASA in their division! We were so proud of them! He finally got his championship ring last week! It's huge and really pretty! We'll see how well they do this year since they moved up to a higher division!
well, that's the Scroggins Family in a nutshell - with the exception of including our dog Kasey! She is a 5 year old chocolate lab and is the best dog ever! She is wonderful with Keyli and they love to play together!
Check back later, maybe I'll have added some more posts!
